April marks National County Government Month, a time to spotlight and celebrate the hard work, innovation, and community impact of counties across the country. As populations grow and communication needs evolve, counties are embracing modern technology to connect more effectively with their residents. From emergency alerts to service requests and community announcements, counties are turning to comprehensive digital tools to streamline operations and build stronger, more engaged communities.
At the forefront of this transformation is GOGov, a trusted provider of local government software designed to enhance communication, transparency, and service delivery. Across the country, counties like Clay County, FL; Whitfield County, GA; Spalding County, GA; and Archuleta County, CO are successfully leveraging GOGov’s suite of tools—including branded county mobile apps, citizen request management, mass notification software, and online permitting—to modernize public services and better serve their communities.
Located just outside Jacksonville, Clay County is one of Florida’s fastest-growing communities, now home to over 236,000 residents. With the construction of a new Expressway and a steady influx of new residents, county leaders knew they needed a better way to keep up with the growing demand for public information and services.
Before switching to GOGov, Clay County used a different system for service requests and communication. However, as the population grew, it became clear that the platform was no longer meeting expectations. The solution? Clay Connected—a mobile app and web portal powered by GOGov that centralizes service requests and delivers real-time updates directly to residents' devices.
"Our job is to make information accessible to the public, and this really puts information right at their fingertips," said Laura Christmas, Communications Director for Clay County.
Branded as Whitfield Connect, this GOGov-powered app and portal helps residents submit service requests, report code violations, and stay informed. The platform replaced a fragmented system and provided much-needed collaboration between departments.
"It helps our residents feel like they’re being heard and their concerns matter," said a county representative.
Spalding County Connect has become a critical tool in managing citizen requests while boosting transparency and internal accountability. The county uses GOGov to route, track, and close out service requests more efficiently—while also sending targeted alerts and updates.
"Before GOGov, tracking requests and communicating across departments was a challenge," staff shared. "Now, we have a clear process that works for everyone."
While many counties have embraced GOGov's mobile and notification tools, Archuleta County, Colorado is showcasing how counties can also modernize permitting processes with GOGov's Online Permitting software.
Located in the beautiful San Juan Mountains, Archuleta County had long struggled with a manual, time-consuming permitting process that led to inefficiencies, delays, and frustration for both staff and residents. After implementing GOGov's Online Permitting solution, the county saw a significant improvement in workflow automation, staff productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Now, contractors and residents can apply for permits online, submit supporting documents, pay fees, and track approval status—all from a single digital platform. The software seamlessly integrates with GOGov’s Code Enforcement tools, making it easy to close the loop between permit issuance and compliance.
“The ability to offer online permitting has helped us reduce in-person visits and streamline operations. It’s been a big win for our team and our community,” said a representative from Archuleta County.
This online permitting solution is particularly beneficial for counties looking to digitize traditionally paper-heavy processes. It’s proof that resident engagement doesn’t always require a mobile app—it’s about creating frictionless access to essential services, however residents prefer to connect.
While each county has its own unique demographics and challenges, several common themes emerge in their success stories with GOGov:
As we celebrate National County Government Month, it’s clear that digital transformation is not just a trend—it’s the future of public service. Counties like Clay, Whitfield, Spalding, and Archuleta are proving that with the right tools, local governments can deliver faster, more accessible, and more transparent services.
Whether it’s a mobile app for citizen requests or a fully digital permitting system, GOGov empowers counties to build trust, boost efficiency, and foster lasting community connections.
