What was the challenge that led Electric City to GOGov?

Before GOGov, Electric City’s compliance office would manage code enforcement violations by sending letters here and there, but the follow through was not as efficient as they would have liked. With miscommunication and unorganized code violations, the city wanted to find a process that was transparent and accessible to everyone in the code enforcement department, but also in the city’s office. The city wanted a platform that would allow all employees to have access to notes and past violations, as well as track and manage progress. The city did research to find a platform that met their needs, and came across GOGov's Code Enforcement module, and in 2023 the city implemented GOGov Code Enforcement. One factor that the set GOGov from competitors was the unlimited number of users that could use GOGov Code Enforcement, making it user friendly for all employees at Electric City!

How is Electric City using GOGov today?

Electric City has been using GOGov Code Enforcement to create new code cases, send out letters, and program and create reports to submit to the City Council monthly meetings. The city’s Records Clerk, Tasha Enochs, mentioned that the software has been really helpful for the municipality. The city has seen in the last six months that the entire staff has been able to assist with the administrative part of creating letters and communicating with other departments such as Public Works who are out on the streets making reports. The software allows the staff at Electric City to manage and follow through with reports. The process has made a difference with completion of code ordinances. The city has even noticed that there have been differences in the city—people have been cleaning up their reported issues on a quicker basis and responding in a timely manner. Some of the most common code violations the city sees are, waste issues and nuisance houses, but most importantly, vegetation violations because the city does experience wildfires, so it has been essential with keeping residents safe with code ordinances related to wildfires.

Future Plans for Electric City

Electric City staff plan to maintain their internal code enforcement process and explore new features that they have not tapped into yet. The staff is really happy about where they are right now with the process but will always welcome new ways to manage code ordinances.
